Thoughts on God of Carnage…

This script has been one of our favorites ever since its release in 2009. It’s fast paced and darkly comedic, and the 4 roles are every actor’s dream. The 4 of us have wanted to share the stage together for a long time, and this play, for our second production at The Cohoes Music Hall, was the perfect way to fulfill that dream.

AUDIENCE FEEDBACK ON GOD OF CARNAGE

“Creative License’s God of Carnage is a masterclass in how to effectively tell a story with fast paced dialogue, effective direction, and strong performances from what I consider to be one of the best ensemble performances I have ever seen.”

“[This production] is all of the things I love about live theater: storytelling that matters and actors who leave it all on the stage.”

“Another stellar production by Creative License! The big laughs that come with the fast paced banter of “God of Carnage” were just what I needed today! RUN, don’t walk, to get your tickets.”

A playground altercation between eleven-year-old boys brings together two sets of Brooklyn parents for a meeting to resolve the matter. At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses, and the rum flows, tensions emerge and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their liberal principles in tatters.

Thoughts on
The Flick…

We love movies SO MUCH, it’s hard to imagine that we’ve chosen the world of theater to work within. So when we read The Flick, choosing it for one of our productions was a no-brainer. It required a specific set-multiple rows of movie theater seats-that was a little daunting, but we were more than up for the challenge, and damn did it pay off.

In a run-down movie theater in central Massachusetts, three underpaid employees mop the floors and attend to one of the last 35mm film projectors in the state. Their tiny battles and not-so-tiny heartbreaks play out in the empty aisles, becoming more gripping than the lackluster, second-run movies on screen. With keen insight and a finely-tuned comic eye, The Flick is a hilarious and heart-rending cry for authenticity in a fast-changing world.
